Connecting Facilities to Power Grids 0.4–35 kV
Connecting facilities to power grids in Ukraine: full support, compliance with regulations and standards.
Electrical Grid Connection with LK Energy
LK Energy Group (Odesa) connects facilities to power grids of 0.4–35 kV on a turnkey basis: we prepare the application and documents, obtain technical conditions (TU) from the grid operator, design, carry out installation and hand over the facility — all that's left for you is to sign the electricity supply agreement and start using the power.
Why this is a service and not something you can just "go and sort out at the regional grid company yourself": connection involves correspondence with the grid operator, a design project, approvals, installation and handover of as-built documentation. Every step has its own requirements, and a mistake at an early stage — an incorrectly declared capacity or a poorly chosen connection point — costs months and money. We go through this path constantly on facilities of various scales and manage it in full: from application to acceptance certificate.
Timelines depend on complexity: from a few weeks for simple facilities to several months when a section of the grid needs to be built. Part of the timeline is on the grid operator's side (reviewing the application, issuing the TU), and it's precisely correctly prepared documents that keep these timelines from stretching out.
If the facility needs not just a line but its own transformer substation — that's a separate service: turnkey substation construction →
Our services
We provide comprehensive services covering every aspect of grid connection. The first stage is obtaining the technical conditions for grid connection, which define the parameters of the future connection.
Next, we develop the design and cost estimate documentation in accordance with the requirements of the technical conditions, ensuring compliance with all norms and standards.
After that, our team of specialists carries out the construction and installation work, taking into account the specifics of the facility.
Once installation is complete, we hand over the completed work and as-built documentation, and carry out commissioning work to confirm the system operates correctly.
The final stage is signing the electricity supply agreement, which allows full use of the power supply to begin.
What documents are required for grid connection
Individuals and legal entities need different sets of documents:
For legal entities and entrepreneurs:- A copy of the extract from the USR (Unified State Register).
- USREOU code (the legal entity's registration code in the state register).
- A copy of the document confirming ownership or right of use of the facility.
- Graphic materials indicating the location of the customer's site and the projected connection point.
- A phone number for creating a personal account when submitting the application for technical conditions.
- A copy of the passport.
- A certificate assigning a taxpayer identification number or registration number of the taxpayer's record card.
- A document confirming ownership of the real estate facility.
Correctly prepared documents significantly speed up the electricity connection process and minimize possible delays.
Stages of work
In brief: application and TU → design → approval → installation and handover. The duration of each step depends on the facility's capacity and the grid operator; we plan our part of the work so that stages don't wait on one another. Let's look at them in more detail.
- Preparing and submitting the application for technical conditions (TU). This stage is considered key, since it's where the main connection parameters are defined: capacity, voltage, connection point and other technical requirements. Technical conditions are issued by the grid company (regional grid operator) — we prepare and submit the application, gather the documents and support the process of obtaining the TU. It's the TU that define the connection parameters and become the basis for further actions.
- Developing design documentation in accordance with the technical conditions. Once the technical conditions are obtained, project development begins. At this stage, all requirements of the grid company and safety and energy-efficiency norms are taken into account. The project includes connection diagrams, load calculations, equipment descriptions and installation plans. The finished project must be approved by the system operator.
- Approving the project with the system operator. Approval guarantees that the project complies with established standards and is safe for the operation of the power grids. The system operator checks the technical soundness of the project and issues an opinion on the feasibility of implementation.
- Signing the agreement and carrying out the connection. Once the project is approved, an agreement is signed with the grid company, establishing the rights and obligations of the parties. Installation of equipment, cable laying and the actual connection of the facility to the power grid then begin. The final step is commissioning work to verify the system's operability.
Each stage is carried out in strict accordance with current Ukrainian legislative norms and requirements. Connection time may vary depending on the complexity of the facility, the distance to the connection point and the need to build additional infrastructure. A professional approach helps avoid delays and ensures timely grid connection.
What determines the cost of our work
The price of grid connection services is formed taking into account several factors:
- The need to obtain new technical conditions. Distance from the existing connection point determined by the regional grid operator.
- The capacity of the power supply system: the higher the capacity requirement, the greater the volume of resources needed to implement the project.
Our rates are transparent and take into account all the specifics of the facility. We work under a contract with staged payment; financing through a partner bank is available if needed.
Frequently asked questions about connection
How much does grid connection cost?
The cost consists of two parts: the connection fee paid to the grid operator (at rates set by the NKREKP (National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission), depending on capacity and voltage class) and the cost of the work — design, materials, installation. An exact figure can be given once the capacity and connection point are determined; we provide a preliminary estimate after the first conversation.
Can a connection be refused?
The grid operator is obliged to issue technical conditions. The question is usually not "whether it's possible" but "how much it will cost and how long it will take" — for example, when there's no free capacity at the nearest substation. We check this before starting work.
Who pays for a new line or grid reinforcement?
The connection fee paid to the grid operator covers grid development up to the connection point. Work on your side — internal networks, switchgear equipment, metering — is a separate estimate, which we present transparently.
Do you deal with the regional grid operator on our behalf?
Yes. We prepare and submit the application, support the process of obtaining the TU, get the project approved, and hand over the as-built documentation. All that's left for you are the signatures and the supply agreement.
